Muizenberg is a beach town just outside Cape Town. The Victorian beach huts there are painted in a row of different colors, and growing up those colors were just part of the landscape. I didn't have to think about them. They were just there. This painting doesn't try to recreate the place. The colors are their own colors now. But the memory of that coastline is in it somewhere, the way certain places stay in you regardless of how long you've been away.
