The Khoisan are among the oldest indigenous peoples of Southern Africa and growing up there you feel their presence in the landscape, in the colors of the earth, in the way light falls on open ground. I did not set out to paint a tribute but that's what this became. The colors here come from memory more than observation and I think that's the only honest way to approach something this deep.
